USELESS HOLIDAYS.
(To the Editor “Stratford Post.”)
Sir, —I read with considerable surprise your leader re the absurdity of observxing Dominion Day as a public holiday. The first six months of the year certainly appear to embrace a largo number of holidays, but the same cannot by said of the remainder, I find that in Stratford seven days are sot apart as holidays from January. Ist to June 23rd inclusive; then follow.six months .without a break. Therefore ..Dpmijiijoii Day, falling as it docs .near the cud;,of September would, if observed by all business people, be a y -great, boon ;it any rats in Stratford.— ;1 am, etc., / , G.L. Stratford, September 26th. [,Onr corespondent is only able to take a very limited view. From a business man’s standpoint there are top many- so-called “public” holidays (merely observed by a section of the community) which really ought to he dubbed • “public nuisances.”—Ed. “Stratford Post.”]
