The New Zealand Association celebrated Dominion Day by a brilliant ball. There was a huge attendance of visiting New Zealanders. New Zealand vessels in the harbour were decked with bunting. SUG All WORKS BILL. Brisbane, September 267 In the Assembly, the Sugarworks Bill was road a third time. TREE-PLANTING BY PRISONERS. Sydney, September 26. Mr. Holman has selected a site at Tuncurry for the prisoners’ treeplanting camps. Ho proposes immediately to clear a thousand acres to allow work to proceed. The prisoners in camp will bo allowed to earn money, and remission of sentences will be made. Prisoners will bo taught scientific farming to enable them to take up land at the conclusion of their sentences. RIFLE SHOOTING. (Received 27, 9.50 a.m.) Sydney, September 27. The Commissioners’ report shows that the net revenue of the State railways is 4.21 per cent, on the railway debts. THE ROSED ALE. Sydney, September 27. The discovery of a number of tins of kerosene near the South of Solitary Island has again revived the suggestion that the Rosedalo may have collided with another vessel. MAWSON’S EXPEDITION. Fremantle, September 27. Frank Wild, a member of Mawson’s expedition, has arrived. He expressed the opinion that taking all things considered, Captain Scott had a bettor chance than Amundson of i caching the Polo first.
