GENERAL ELECTIONS.
PARNELL SEAT. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, September 26. Mr F. La wry, M.P. for Parnell, met a large number 'of bis constituents to-night and announced that he had decided, owing to the recent alterations of the boundaries of the electorate, not to seek re-election. He denied that ho was retiring in favour of Sir John Findlay or any other candidate. Ho also denied that he had been promised a seat in the Legislative Council. CHALMERS SEAT. Dunedin, September 26. Mr J. Dickson, of Portobello, lias decided to contest the Chalmers scat in the Opposition interest. He is chairman of the Portobello Road Board, and a member of the Otago Harbour Board. WELLINGTON CENTRAL. Wellington, September 26. Air W. T. Young, Labour candidate for Wellington Central, opened Ids campaign to-night. He said no more Crown land should bo sold. The State should retain and operate sufficient land to meet all demands in regard to the national food supply. The Wel-lington-Lyttclton ferry service should he nationalised; old ago pensions should be increased to Cl per week and the ago reduced to 60 years; the second Chamber should be abolished; md borrowing should cease. The candidate received a vote of thanks and confidence.
