TUTUTAWA NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) • A very enjoyable time was spent on 'Friday evening last in the Tututawa Hall, a social and dance ueing held in ijid . of, the^i>all-songs were sung during the evening, the foi- ■ lowing .being some of (be items:— Nong, Mrs. Barron, “Jsiind of Dreams” ;'song, Mass N.,i v , “Genevoive”; song, Miss D. Oliver, ‘‘Dublin Bay”; duct, ‘‘Hearts and Homes,” Misses Brickell; violin and piano selection by Mrs. Simpson (piano), Master Leslie Barron (violin), very well tendered for a boy of ton years; sailor’s hornpipe, Mr. J. B. Norris, and an. Irish jig by way of encore. Mrs. Simpson played the accompaniments for the songs, dance music being played by Messrs:' Walker and Brickell (accprdcon),' Mrs. Simpson and Mr. PI. Bayly (piano and violin). Messrs. J. B. Norris and 0. Bayly made very effi.cientM.C.’s. The usual first-class supper was provided by the ladies. Dancing was kept up till 1 o’clock in the morning. The first meeting of the Tututawa Domain Board was held on Saturday last. The following gentlemen wore elected members:—Messrs. R. Barron (chairman), 0. Bayly (secretary), R. Hardley (treasurer)/.!. O’Connor, J. B. Norris, F. W. Simpson, and W. J. Simpson. It is_ the intention of the Board to start improving the Domain immediately on receipt of the sanction from the Governor. A public place for holding sports, etc., has been a Tong'felt want, and we congratulate the members of the Board in having taken the necessary steps to obtain control of the abov& Domain. The factory manager’s residence is very near completion, and a few days will see the manager and his wife installed in their new home, flic factory is receiving milk every day from Monday last. Previous to this*it has only been receiving milk every other day. / Owing to the examination of the Tututawa School coming oil - on the 11th October, the holidays have been postponed till the Mondjiy after the examinations. . , The beneficial effects of the refreshing rains arc very much in evidence, stock showing a marked improvement. Another accident occurred in Mr, Perry’s bush last Tuesday, one of the | contractors cutting his leg very badly. At last a start has been made to
erect the bridge on the Punewhakau Road, after a nine months’ wait. Surely the new construction will be much appreciated when completed. Our enterprising settler, Mr. R. A. Bricknell has just purchased a Jersey bull (Specialist II.), which should prove a great acquisition to the district from a - dairyman’s point of view. The following pedigree, to those who know anything of pedigree Jersey stock, will speak for itself:—Specialist 11.—H.8.
