A BIG WHALE. (Ter Press Association.) Tiniaru, September 25. A whale was washed up at lUohiliihi measuring 71 foot in length. DOMINION DAY. Wellington, September 25. ; Dominion Day was further celeb rated by a citizens’ gathering .and concert in the Town Hall to-night. There was a very huge attendance, and the nidience was entnusiastic. Appropriitc speeches wore delivered by the Gursnur, the Prime Minister, and the Mayor. MUSICAL AND ELOCUTIONARY COMPETITIONS. Wellington, September 25. Entries for tho musical and elocutionary competitions, to bo held in Wellington next month by the New Zealand Competitions Society, number 1500, and about 200 more are yet to lie received by post. Entries arc from persons all over the Dominion. It is estimated that there will be at least me thousand visiting competitors, and :hat the competitions will probably nave to lie extended over thirteen days instead of ton as previously arranged.
