C. Williamson’s Royal Comic Opera Company, headed by 'Miss Blanche Browne and Mr. Bertie Wright, will present the success of modern musical comedy, “Our Miss Gibbs,”- A refreshing breeziness, daintily scored music, set in a wealth of orchestral colouring, lovely solos, haunting duets and stirring quartets and choruses, together with a number of exceptionally clever artists, and a more than ordinary witty book, arc some of the ingredients that go to make the success of “Our Mist Gibbs,” the latest of the good things in musical plays that the J. C. Williamson management is to provide for us on Wednesday next. In addition there is the charm of an interesting love episode, which the grace of Miss Blanche Browne, who plays Mary Gibbs, sets, off to great advantage. The superior fun-making of Bertie Wright, Leslie Holland, and Fred Leslie is said to much enhance the attractions of this popular musical comedy, which is moreover superbly mounted, tho scenery being exquisite, the costumes the latest, and 'the most expensive. The dressing of the ladies who frequent “Garrod’s” stores is said to be entirely charming, while the sartorial equipment of tho males sets the fashion in that direction. Merrily the fascinating comedy goes to the sound of trumpt and drum, the concerted vocal numbers, and the love songs obtain an additional charm in the use of the haunting effects of the rttre Celeste instrument. There are tivo excellent numbers for the chorus, tho dude’s chorus, “We’re so Cor- , root,” which has a brisk march swing in it. The sextet “Remember You’re a Gentleman,” is probably one of tho ■" best things that musical comedy has yet produced. There can hardly lie a question as to tho quality of the company that J. C. Williamson, Ltd., is sending to Stratford to expound “Our Miss Gibbs.” The Royal Comic Opera Snnpany was in tho first materially rengthened for the original production in Sydney. It is affirmed that identically the same organisation will inierprete the play hero. The box Alan is now open at T. G. Grubb’s Piano Depot.
