LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(Per Press Association.; Wellington, September 22. The Legislative Council mot at 2.30. The Mental Defectives Bill was reported with amendments, the chief ol which wore that two medical certificates should be given to the InspectorGeneral on the application of a parent or guardian to commit a minor to an instiution, and that periodical visits of inspection or official vistor should apply not only to mWtutions but to every house in which a patient is kept. The Friendly Societies Amendment Bill was reported from committee with minor amendments. The Stone Quarries Amendment Bill was read a third time and passed. The Council adjourned till Thursday next.
