Armstrong (Commissioner) presiding, Hislpp, and Kennedy. j• ■ ■ The Under-Secrotary for Lands wrote , stating that: the matter of remission of rent on transfer of sections under section 127 of the Land Act, 1908, was a matter for the Land Board to decide. -itut Aas resolved that on the disposal | of< half interest, one half of the rent Conceded he demanded. The application of K. Ad Johansen and D. Finnigan for Crown lands in block 6, Aria, was considered, and it was resolved to inform them that tiic survey \\ ill be made as soon as possible, so that the land may be offered at the earliest opportunity. W. A. McCutehan 'applied for section 21, block lb, Pouatu, closed part of Kohuratahi Hoad.—Approved. D. Markham applied for a renewal of his lease of section 1-12, block 9, Opunake town for seven years.—Deferred for ranger’s report. F. Le Mon applied for lease of section 19, block 2, Aria.—Declined. The Ohura County Council asked to have section 12, block 9, town of Managroa, vested in them as a site for a public pound.—Resolved that the Board cannot, entertain the application, but the ranger (Mr Tolme) will co-operate with the Council in selecting a site in another locality. J. O’Connor and W. Ireland applied bo take timber from section 13, block I, Piopiotea West, and.Goodsir Bros., selectors of section 12, applied for the section to bo added to their holding.— Declined. H. T. Twiss, Crown Lands Ranger, reported on the application of Cl austad Bros, to surrender section '44, block 11, Waitra.—Applicants to be informed that they' must, surrender before the Department will go to the expense of ascertaining the value of i rnprovements. Flo also reported on the application of J. Hutchins for section 1, Mock 13, Mirni, and for that part, of section b, block 13, Waro. —Application for section 1 declined, but that a year to year lease will be granted at ill per annum. Application for section b recommended at a rental based on capital value of £1 per acre. He also reported on the application by H, Jury for part, section b, block 13, Waro. —Report adopted. He reported on the proposals of the Clifton County Council for the expenditure of thirds, and this matter was left witli the Commissioner to deal i with.

E. Tohne (ranger) reported on L. Lloyd’s application for a bridge over a stream to give access to section 5, Ldock' 8, Waro. —The .Board regrets that it cannot make any recommendation in the matter. He also submitted rental for temporary tenancy of part, section ‘2B, block 2, Ohnra, applied for by C. J. By an.—The ranger is to report on the auantity of milling.timber on the section, and also on section 12, block ■2, adjoining. 'lr E. A. Meredith, assistant Crown Lands ranger, reported on the application of Li. Cleave for extension ol time to reside with his, wife and family,—lf not resident by December 31st, 1911, interest to bo forfeited. The Under-Secretary for Lands wrote

stating the opinion of the Crown LawOfficers rc renewal of leases under the Taranaki Scholarships Endowment Act, 1910.—Acknowledged. A plan of deviation of the Mangaowata Road in blocks 9 and 10, Pousitu, was laid on the table.—Resolved that titles be amended accordingly. R. F. Beantrais applied for further oxtonsion of time, till March, 1912, for his wife and family to reside on section 3, block 11, Mapara.—lnterest to 1)0 absolutely forfeited unless resident by December 31st, 1911. E. A. Meredith (assistant ranger) reported on non-residence of A. W. King, section 5, block 12, Mapara. A. W. King asked for extension of time to reside.—Granted. r rhe following local bodies submitted proposals for tbe expenditure of thirds: Whangamomona County Council, £2227 18? Id; Stratford County Council, £258 9s 9d; and Ohura County Council, £1721 2s sd.—Left in the hands of the Commissioner.

Mr E. Tolme (ranger) reported having resumed possesion of section 1, block 2, Piopiotoa West. The question of reduction of royalty on totara and grant, of lease for two years to Bnllians and Co. was considered.—Resolved to- recommend that a- sum of £7l 10s be placed on estimates for payment to outgoing tenants for improvements. It was also resolved to reduce the royalty on totara from 2s 3d to 2s, and to give Bullions and Cci a two-year lease of the section at an annual rental of £lO. He also reported on the inspection of six holdings. Improvements required were £1374, and effected £4739. Throe have not done sufficient improvements.—The report was satisfactory. H. F. Munro applied for the freehold of section 35, block G, ( Opunake. —Approved. W. E. Davies wrote, stating that be had taken over the tenancy of sections 7,8, and 9, village of Puniwhakau, Irom K. Maxwell.—Transfer approved. W. Beard applied for part section 7, block 5, Ohura, to give frontage and building site.—Resolved that the application bo recommended at a price of £2 per acre, area to be defined by ranger. H. T. T wiss reported on application of Sheeby Bros, for part Mangatawa township reserve for a site for accommodation house.—Resolved to dispose of land between road and one chain reservation for cash for £lO. Mr Twiss also reported on the proposed scenery reserves in the districts. —Resolved that section G, block 6, Malioo, and section G, block 10, Warn,be scenery reserves, and section 4a, block 14, Upper Waitara, be reserved for papa burning. R. Roth, section 5, block 15, Ohura, applied for part of proposed forest reserve adjoining his section.—Resolved that the land be disposed to the applicant for 6 r.p. at £5 per acre. J. McDonald renewed his application for part section 4, block .14, Ohura.— Resolved that the land be disposed of to him for 6 r.p. at £2 per acre. Applicant to deposit survey fee. The following selectors have not complied with the conditions of residence and improvements:— H. Ryan, section 13, block 13, Ohara, residence.—Explanation satisfactory. J. Hunt, section 3, block 2, Opaku, residence.—Application satisfactory, and advice him to renew application to admit son into partnership. C. F. Hearn, section 6, block G, Aria, residence.—Explanation satisfactory. G. W. Williams, section 4, block 13, Omona, residence.—Selector’s attention to be drawn to the necessity of residing more continuously than in the past.

J. A. Rodi, section 6, block 2, Opaku, rosidenco.—To bo notified that as ho cannot comply with the conditions ho should apply for transfer to the person at present working on the land. J. ]). Campbell, section 7, block 4, Opaku, residence.—Residence with his brother on adjoining section accepted as compliance. T. H. Smith, section 2, block 13, Kapara, residence.—Satisfactory. M. J. Hunter, section 4, block 8, Opaku, residence.—Suggest admission of a son into partnership, or other eligible person who could fulfil the conditions. 11. Parker, section 5, block 4, Opaku, residence.-—lf application is made the Board will consider admission of son into partnership. C. Perkins, sections 3 and 10, block 4, Opaku.—One month’s extension granted, in which to take up personal residence. G. J. Haggie, section 10, block 13, Oluira, residence.—lf not resident within two months, will be forfeited. 1). H. Willo, section 6, block 11, Ohura, residence.—Exemption granted. G. E. Wilson, section 4, block 10, Pouatu, residence.—lf not resident within three months or transferred, will be forfeited. J. 11. Crallan, section 3, block 15, Ngatimaru, improvements.—Declared forfeited. The- ranger is-to inspect R. H. McKenzie’s sections, 7, 10, and 13, block I, Aria, N. McKenzie’s section, 5, block 5, Aria, and J. W. and G. H. Ethcrington’s section, 3, block 11, Ohura, for improvements. Mr Meredith reported on section 3, block 2, Totoro, with improvements thereon.—Resolved to offer the land, with adjoining Crown Lands,' at 30s. nor acre, weighted with valuation for improvements, in terms of report.
