TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of tho Taranaki Land Board was held on Tuesday. Present: Messrs W. Armstrong (Commissioner of Crown Lands), presiding, Heslop, McCluggage, and Kennedy. An apologly was received from Mr Ilattcnbury. Land Applied For, The following applications for land were received since last meeting: Part section 3, block 10, Aria, 50 acres, J. Phillips, 0.r.p.; part section 10, block 9, Opaku, 1171 acres, N. Nelson, o.r.p. The application of J. Phillips will he recommended for approval under

section 129 of the Land Act, 1908, at a capital value of 25s per acre. The application of N. Nelson was approved, but the Board could not reduce tiie valuation for improvements unless the same wore reoffered to public competition. Transfers. Applications for transfer wore dealt with as follows : N. B. Fry day to Alick Castle, section 7, block 13, Ohura. —Transfer to he allowed when improvements are brought up to date. J. L. Sproull to Sproull Bros, and Brown, section 9, block 8, Ohura.— Recommended for approval. R. B. Bricked to R. A. Bricked, section 1-1, block 2, Omona.—Approved. A. ‘Scrivener to A. Scrivener, E. W. Pochin, and T. Ward, section 8, block 11, Totoro.—Recommended for approval. G. Hackett to H. Craven, sections 21 and 22, block 14, Ohura.—Recommended for approval. E. Bod to W. Jones, section 0, block 0, Upper Waitara.—Approved.

T. Sheehy to J. F. Corner, section 2, block 9, Warn. —Ranger to report. H. Parker to J. Struthers, section 3, block 11, Aria.—Approved. E. Julian to A. R. Greenwood, section 1, block 12, Waitara, and E. Julian to John Whitehead, section 37, block 11, Waitara.—Recommended for approval. Tovey Bros, to K .F. Tovey, part section 21, block. 2, Ohura.—Recommended for approval. L. F. B. Smith to H. J. Wilkinson, section 9, block 14, Ware. —Refused, hut if eligible purchaser is found the Board will consider a further application. C. F. A. Zimmerman to J. H. Wylie, section 28, block 16, Huiroa.— Approved. G. G. S. Bowers to T. E. Trask and G. G. S. Bowers, section 6, block 16, Pouatu.—Recommended for approval. R. Law to R. R. A. Law and J. D. Law, transfer of sub-lease section 4, block 14, Pouatu.—Approved. E. E. Prior to B. H. T. E. Prior, section 7, block 7, Mahoe.—Resolved that owing to id-health of the applicant he bo allowed, to transfer to an eligible person other than his son, lessee to obtain a purchaser within six months. A. Carman to F. Greaves, section.3, block 6, Opaku.—Approved. E. J. Wilson to T. E. Wilson, section 1, block 15, Opaku (transfer of sub-lease). —Approved. Sub-Leases. W. R. and M. Bonner to E. M. Gatton, section 6, block 16, Ngatimaru.—Approved. D. R. Right to C. R. and J. B. McCartie, part section 72, Mock 14, Pouatu.—Approved. Messrs Malone, Anderson and Johnstone’s application for a month’s extension of time to register sub-lease of J. G. Buchanan to A. H. Perry, section 11, block 14, P uatu, was agreed to. Freehold. Tho following applications were received for freehold : 13. M. Kirkham, section 5 and 6, block 4, Omona, and section 13, block 13. Mahoe.—Approved. H. T. Jod, section 15, block 8, and section 3, block 9, Mi mi.—Approved, subject to tho Commissioner being satisfied that necessary improvements have been completed. Boring Rights. Messrs Weston and Weston applied for grant of boring and mining rights from C. Biding to A. E. Watkins and G. Fox, section 3, block 1, Egmont, and section 7, block 5, Egmont.—Consent was granted.

Lai'id to bo Opened. Plans of 22 sections in blocks 1,2, 3, and 4, Rangi S.D., and block 11, Tangitu, recently surveyed by Mr W. Kensington, District Surveyor, were laid on the table.—Resolved that tho prices as submitted be adopted, and the land offered for sale or selection under part 3 of the Land Act, 1908, the ballot to be held at Taumarunui. Plans of 11 sections in blocks 1 and 3, Oniara, and block 8, Tanrakawa. recently surveyed by Mr D. M. Wilson, District Surveyor, were laid on the table.—Resolved that the prices as submitted be adopted, and the land offered for sale or selection under part 3 of the Land Act, 1908, the ballot to lie held at Stratford. Plans of 9 sections in block 10, Taurakuw ■, block 4, Kapara, and block ], Tua, surveyed by Mr Win. Living, District Surveyor, wore laid on tho table. —Resolved that tho land be offered for sale or selection under part 3 of the Land Act, 1908, at prices to he agreed upon between the Commissioner and the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Wellington, after the land has been valued by the surveyor and Mr Lundins. Crown lands ranger. The ballot will be hold at Stratford. General. G. F. Gifkins attended the meeting with reference to own residence on section 5, block 9, Kaparai—Under tho circumstances, leave of absence was granted during the pleasure of the Board. W. G. Farg'ie asked for section 22, block 1, Mahoe, reserved for gravel, to be added to bis holding.—Ranger to report. M A. Hutrick waited on the Board with Mr Grey (Wilson mud Grey) with regard to section 3, block 15, Ohara. —After hearing their representations, the. Board decided that tho section be off, tO by public auction for cash ai a total upset price of £I3BB 10s, including improvements.—“ News.”
