RAILWAY TO TAUPO.

DOG-IN-THE-MANGER ATTITUDE. (Per Press Association) Rotorua, September 20. At a largely attended meeting the following resolutions were passed:— That in tho opinion of this meeting the Lino has arrived when the Government should take into consideration the construction of a railway between Rotorua and Taupo and the connection of those towns with tho Main Trunk railway by the construction of the railway line to Taupo or Tokaanu and Kakahi on tho Main Trunk line, or any more convenient point on that lino. Inasmuch as. tho proposed private lino from Putarnrn to Taupo would, if authorised, preclude any possibility of the above lino being authorised, and would bo of far less value to the Dominion as a whole than the proposed Rotorua to Taupo lino, and would he entirely antagonistic to the principle of State-owned railwaysj that this meeting protests against such lino being authorised.
