THE SPANISH CRISIS.
RIOTERS FIRED ON BY TROOPS. MANY ARRESTS. Madrid, September 20. Tho moo at Bilbao attacked the troops which wore escorting the arrested leaders. The troops fired, injuring many. Two wore sabred. Thirteen of the ringleaders were arrested as a. result of a domiciliary visit to the Labour Exchange headquarters at Saragossa. An anarchist leader and tho president of the Labour Federation wore also arrested. Scnor Canalejas, Premier, asserts that the suspension of constitutional guarantees is necessary, owing to the anarchial and revolutionary character of the strike. All implicated were not arrested, because they lied to France and Algeria Tho Government possess knowledge of a plot to assassinate General Weyler. All meetings were prohibited, and the inciters rigorously punished. The revolutionists for a time practically held tho Alcira-, Town Hall. Two buildings wore burnt, a bridge blown up, and a railway line cut. Troops restored order. There is an active strike campaign in tho Andalusian collieries. A goods train was derailed at Seville. Labour unions at Valencia protest against the anarchist action, and declare tliey struck in sympathy with the Bilbao men, without revolutionary intent. They are willing to resume. Etna in eruption. HUNDREDS OF SQUARE MILES' DEVASTATED. Rome, Sepember 20. Eighty-five vents in Mt. Etna arc violently ejecting lava. . Hundreds of square miles of country was devasted in all directions. !, Tho authorities at Etna Observatory say that the eruption is unparalleled.
