FIRES.

(Per Press Association ) Wellington, September 20. hour out of the live houses destroyed by lire at Hataitai, Kilbirnie North, last night were owned by Bird Bros., and were insured for £2OO each in flic Alliance’ office. The owners state that they are heavy losers. The fifth house was owned and occupied by Gilbert Hall, oi the Union Co.’s repairing staff. It was not insured nor was bis furniture covered. The Phoenix office had a risk of £75 on the furniture belonging to O’Kanc, who was one of the Bird Bros.’ tenants. It is not known whether H. Godfrey’s furniture was insured.
