PRINCESS LOUISE.
MUCH IN THE PUBLIC EYE. Princess Louise, who recently published memoirs h,ave caused a considerable stir, is the eldest daughter of the late King Leopold of Belgium. She was married to the King of Saxony (then Crown Prince) in 1891. In February, 1903, she was divorced subsequent to her elopement with M. Giron, a tutor. Later, there was some trouble as to the custody of a child (Princess Monica), born three months after the divorce, but. the Princess gave way, the child being sent to the Court of Saxony. The Princess has since oten more or less in the public eye. She is said to have been heavily in debt (the sum of £600,000 has been, mentioned), and comparatively recently commenced an action against Per father’s estate for moneys which she dleges rightly belong to .her. When King Leopold was dying ho refused to sec the Princess. Her friends have always held that she has been more sinned against than sinning, and that M. Giron only acted the part of a loyal friend. The pair separated, and the Princess married an Italian professor of languages. The Archduke John of the Tuscan branch of the House of Austria resigned his digni'.ies in order, it was understood, to enter into a love marriage. In October, 1889, he took the name of Johapn Orth, and became captain of a merchant ship, the St. Margaret, which was supposed to have been lost off the coast of South America in August, 1890. Since then there have been reports to the effect that the cxArchduke is alive and living in some part of the United States.
