LEVIN NOTES.
(Per Press Association.) Levin, September 15. Three days of showery weather have saved the Levin district from parched conditions, and given dairymen good heart. As August rainfall was less than one-fourth of the average for tiiat mouth,' this week’s; soaking rainfall was badly' needed. To-day’s stock, sales mark the inauguration of weekly sales at Levin. ’They wore formerly fortnightly. Exceptionally large entries have been Ui.adc;; and buyers are present from Wellington, Palmerston and Wairarapa. ■ '■ A noticeable increase of confidence ill the district is being displayed in land purchases. Tlie high prices of the BniicU estate and Gear estate has induced other land holders to sell. Arrangements are being made po auction 700 acres of first-class land within Levin, which' will probably take place next month.
