N.Z. Lean and Mercantile Agency Report. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford Branch, report On Friday, Bth inst., we held our second sale in our Kohuratahi yards, when there was a fair yarding of 415 head of cattle and 260 sheep. There was a large attendance .of farmers, about 130 being present at the sale,, which was a success, most of-, the cat-' tie andbthe whole of the sheep being disposed pf.at the following prices:— Yearling, heifers 40s to 40s,’ yearling steers fair quality 43s 9d to 565, mixed yearlings (small and low; con-, dition) 25s to 445, 2 year old steers 61s to 745, 3 year old steers 82s to 106 s, store cows 56s to 70s, empty, heifers 50s to 70s, springing heifers 90s 6d to 110 s, dairy cows (backward and aged) 105 s to 112 s, and up to 126 s for more forward stuff, bulls 60s to 655, "while hoggets realised 11s lid to 12s. i Our next sale at this centre will-be held on the 6th October, when we expect there will be a good yarding. We held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards on Tuesday last, when we had a fair yarding!of 515 head of cattle, including 23 dairy cows and 38 dairy heifers, most of which were sold at the hammer and afterwards at the following prices. Competition was not quite so keen for springing heifers as usual,, owing to those yarded being somewhat small and lower in condition than usual, but anything first-class attracted keen competition, and realised- full values, namely—Steers .(small and inferior) 33s Id to 465, and a very nice line made from 48s to 60s, yearling heifers 50s 6d, and a very nice line-on account of a Brooke’s Road client elicited keen bidding and made up to 645, 2) year old steers 75s to 80s, empty heifers 30s to 70s, store cows 36s to 655, forward cows 67s to 725, and up to 775, dairy heifers (forward but in .low condition) 80s to 105 s, while anything nee made up to 180 s. Our next sale at Stratford will be held on the 26th instant. We also hold a sale at Te Wera on the 2‘3f.d instant, when we hope to iavo a good yarding.
