Seasonable rains have ensured a good harvest. FALLEN ON EVIL DAYS. '(Received 12, 9.d0 a.m.) Melbourne, September .12. Diver Hughes, of Westralian mining rescue fame, has fallen on evil days. Illness has prevented his working for the past year, and a public appeal brought poor response. A deputation asked Mr Fisher to provide Hughes witli work to enable him to maintain his wife and six children. Mr Fisher requested that the matter be left in his hands, and declared that if ever there was a hero, it was Hughes.
