A SOUTH AFRICAN ORDER.
-h • SECURED BY GERMANY. ' (Received 8, D. 40 a.m.) London, September 7. A Gorman firm ,in open competition, secured a South African order for £170,000 for steel rails. Mr Newton Moore, interviewed, said West Australia gave preference to British firms even at higher prices than foreign firms. ■ Sir J. W. . Taverner said Victoria acted similarly. Although some orders were placed in America owing to the British manufacturers declining the conditions, last week British manufacturers accepted the conditions and received £150,000 in orders.
