SCHOOL FOOTBALL.
Stratford High School hoys—whether expectedly or unexpectedly—wore treated to an exhibition of football tactics by tiie Wellington team yesterday that it would be w> 1 for them to pay particular attention to, and make it their business in future matches to endeavour to emulate. Almost from the commencement of the game it was plainly observable that the Empire City team was far and away tho best of the two, and as play progressed, onlookers were struck with the great proficiency of rho bo/s in passing, as well as in the other 1;t tie nonest tricks of the game. The Stratford boys really appears 1 to bo quite demoralised at times, and tiny seemed utterly unable to prevent their opponents from scoring. Taranaki is considered to be a home of giod JlugLy football, but the tra'niug Wellington boys are obtaining, as judged by yesterday’s play, will enable the Empire City senior clubs to make a selection from excellent material in the future. The beating received by Stratford boys should do more good than harm, ft ought to make our boys realise that there are other schools where football is played, and played to some purpose. Next year possibly better results may no looked for from our boys.
