FRENCH FOOD RIOTS.
(Received 7, 9.45 a.m.) Paris, September 6. The prompt arrest of the leaders in the several disturbed areas is depressing the ardour of dear food rioters. Workmen at Fougeres compelled shop-keepers to sell at prices fixed by the Labour Exchange. A mob at St. Quentin stoned firemen who were extinguishing an incendiary grain-store fire. The troops charged the mob, several injuring several rioters. A bricklayer was caught firing an adjoining granary.
