A DRY MONTH.
SMALL RAINFALL TOTALS. August was an extraordinary dry inontii all over Taranaki. At Stratford the total fall was only 2.72 inches. Rain fell on fourteen days, the greatest falls being .9oin. on the Ist, .biin. on the 16th, and .loin. ( ? n the_l7th. The other falls varied from .1 Tin. to .Olin, and on eight days the fall was under din. in August, 1910, the total fall was 10.20 in., and the average for August up to 1910 was G.2oin. A total of 3.32 in. fell at Inglewood, the chief falls being ,83in. on the Ist, ,36in. on the 2nd, .87in on the 10th, and .45in on the 18th. Rain fell on sixteen days, hut on nine days the fall was between .Obin. and .01 in. There were only nine wet days in Hawera, tiie total’fall being only 1.22 in. Last year the month gave 3.55 in. on fourteen days, and in 1909 there fell on nineteen days G.iGin. This has been the driest August in Hawera f;n twenty years. At .Raton, on ten days, a fall of l.2in. was recorded, the maximum fall i>oing .BGin. on the 17th. During August, 1910, 4.17 in. foil on sixteen days.
