MELBA’S OPERA COMPANY.
GREAT RECEPTION. Melbourne,' September 3. The Melba Opera Company opened to a packed and enthusiastic house, and was a splendid success. The takings exceeded £lsoo—a' record. People commenced to gather at seven in the morning, arid -a dense crowd gathered. A groat rush was made when tfie theatre ’ was opened at two o’clock, and the time till the performance was occupied by impromptu concerts, the ‘ theatre providing tea. .
