GO NOT TO LAW.
AGAINST THE TENETS OF FAITH. An notion was pending for some lime at the Auckland Supremo Court, and both parties got ready for hearing. Just or. the eve of the hearing the defendants wrote a letter to the plaintiffs pointing out that both parties were of a particular denomination, and it was contrary to the tenets or such sect to engage in litigation, fn the letter the defendants referred to I, Corinthians, chapter 6, versos I—6. On being turned up, the context was as> follows “Dare any of you, having a matter against mot»r, g*> law before the unjust, ml art b. fore the saints ? “Do you not know that tiie saints shall judge ho world? And if the world'shall ho judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? “Know ye not that wo shall judge angels? How much more things that pertain to this life? “If then ye have judgments of filings pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. “I speak to your shame. Is it so', that there is not a wise man amongst von? No, not one that shall he able to judge his brethren ? , “But brother goeth to "law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.”
The action was ultimately discontinued, on friendly terms.
