Senator Clapp, one of the leaders of the Progressive Republican Party, speaking to an interviewer at Longbeach, California, declared that President Taft was a peevish, fretful, dictatorial hull-headed man, and he knew lie had no chance to secure tlio presidency again. The party was thoroughly dissatisfied with the President’s action over t!ie tariffs last session. Senator Lafollettc’s magazine attacks President Taft’s action in vetoing the woollen duties.
