WHANGAMOMONA STRIKE.

In the House yesterday Air Hino asked the Minister for Public Works if he had any information regarding the reported cessation of work by workmen in the Whangamomona tunnel. If not, would the Minister make inquiries, as Mr Hino understood the men were dissatisfied with the small pay. The Minister replied that ho had no information yet. On inquiry at the Public Works Office this morning it was learnt that only about seventy men had ceased work and that it was expected that work would he resumed on Monday. Mr C. J. McKenzie, the local Public Works Engineer, is at Whangainomona in connection with the trouble.
