N Z. L. and M. Report. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford Branch, report:— We opened our Te Wora yards on Friday, 25th inst., when there was a small yarding of 208 cattle, mostly grown cattle, and 66 sheep, and three Horses. Several lines of hoggets advertised for this sale were sold privately prior to the sale. There was a large attendance for the district, about seventy being present. The bidding was dull, while vendors’ reserves were somewhat high, which resulted in most of the stulf being passed in. to 3 year steers wore passed in at 80s to 82s 6d, a nice line of empty heifers rising 2 years realised V3s. mixed weaners passed in at bis, dairy cows (not too tonVard) realised from 90s to 122 s : 6d, springing heifers (backward) • Ills to i2Bs 6cl, for anything showing condition and close to profit. A horse was sold at £l7. Our next To Wera sale will be held oil September 22nd, and our next Koiiuratahi sale on September Bth. In our Stratford yards we hold our usual for.tuightly sale on the 29tti inst, y. iuMi iliere was a fair yarding of 356 battle,' : most of which were sold at the hammer and afterwards at full market values. Mr. George Hobbs kindly acted as auctioneer in the absence of our Mr. Sudd. We had a heavy yarding of dairy stock) consisting of, 76 kmiers and 33 dairy cotfs. In accordance with the arrangement with our opposition friends we disposed of the da:iy heifers first, when tne cows, and the store cattle afterwards, which appeared to work very well. A very nice line ol heifers on account of Messrs. Haifn Bros, realised from 95s to li'U.s; on account of Mr. Henry Sanson a nice line, slightly low in condition, but close to profit, realised LOf's t,. I/2s ,64.; -several other lines inijde from, 65s to 85s for backward, 90,s to 170 s heifers close to profit. Dairy cows made from 85s to IslUa, [and up to 2355; anything forward in the dairy line was all disposed of at the hammer. Yearling steers from fair to good quality made from 35s 6d' to 475; yearling heifers 30s to 455; a nice line of yearling Jersey cross heifers, on.account of an Opunake Road client elicited very keen competition, and realised 635; empty 2' year heifers, low Condition, 56s to 79s 6d; fat cows, 115 s to 122 s 6d; store cows, 40s to 765; hulls, showing size and condition, were keenly sought after, and realised 98s to 1055., During the past week our Te Wera agent, Sir. Robert McMullian, disposed of a good many hoggets at 9s. :We also have to report having sold the output of a small factory, butter, at ll£dj and cheese at 6d per lb; also, a line of 78 tons of old tram rails to an East Coast client, at a satisfactory price. Our next Stratford sale will be held on September 12th.
