A stir has been created in Anglican, circles by, the action of the rector of Christ Church, Sydney, who, at tho patronal festival of the guild celebration, on August, 20th, wore the cope and the biretta. When Rev. Clive Statham was appointed, ho signed an undertaking not' to wear eucharistic vestments, but nothing was mentioned aboiit the use of the cope. In the procession on Sunday a red brocade cope, with gold ospreys, together with tho biretta, wore features of the dressing of the rector, although it is said they were not worn continuously throughout the service. The cope, is not” a eucharistic vestment ; but it is understood that tho Archbishop of Sydney considers that both the articles of adornment referred'.to should only bo worn in cathodrajs, and collegiate institutions. In addition to tho wearing of tire cope and ( fche biretta, tho service was remarkable from tho fact that there was much decoration on tho altar, a display of arum' lilies and lighted tapirs adding to the brightness of the surroundings.-Rov. Harry Bryant, tho rector of ■ Eurwcod, preached. Smith had an uncle—very ill— Expressed a wish to make his will: “Leave everything to you, my boy.” Smith struggled to conceal his joy! J ust to reduce his temperature, They gave him Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure. " Poor Smith! His dreams of wealth were vain," His uncle’s up and out again!
