RUSSIAN PEASANTS LYNCHED.
Soma frightful oases of. lynching are reported as occurring in the village of Dmitviovsk, in the Potropavlovsk dir.ti ict. With the beginning of the lainnnor heat there wore numerous (ires in the village, arc! ’a large mimbej of the inhabitants were rendered destitute. Finally incendiarism begin to be suspected, and indignation reached a climax when over one hundred cottages were destroyed in one conflagration. A mass meeting was held in the public square, and three men, upon whom suspicion had fallen, were summoned from their homes. Their explanations were not considered satisfactory, and two were killed on the spot, the third having his hoard torn, out by the roots, and tiding otherwise shockingly maltreated. The mother of one victim, who witnessed the fate of her son. procured poison, and took a fatal dose in the open street. The crowd wore not content with what they had accomplished ; they want to the house of the injured man, and murdered his father. They then oufored another house, killed the owner, an old man, and left, ids son dying. Three more peasants were beaton’almost to death in the public square he Toro the fury of the people luid spent itself. On the following day the autlnritios, with a strong force of police, arrived in the village, and over sixty peasants were arrested. They are in prison pending trial.
