Brisbane, August 25 The Waterside wo'ke’s’ strike at Mi’.ckay has been settled and work resumed.
The Adelaide Shipping Company lias agreed that non-unionists’ hours shall be limited to IS weekly, free labourers and unionists would ho kept apart, and, as free labourers loft, their places 'would he filled by unionists. Unionists employed on the wharves at Townsville have ceased work, owing to shippers persisting in employing a number of free labourers. Four steamers arc held up.
A COMET. Perth, August 25. The comet discovered by the Lick observatory is visible hero. It is a small object, with no tail, and is apparently moving towards the southwest. THE VEND CASE. (Received 26, 9 a.m.) Sydney, August 2G.

THE LITHGOW STRIKE. Sydney, August 28. Tho Lithgow strikers have instructed the local storekeepers uot to supply non-unionists. The orders have been obeyed. Mr Hoskins is sending to Sydney for provisions. The nonunionists are unable to buy oven newspapers. LYSOL SUICIDES. Melbourne, August 26. Fifty-six lysol suicides have been reported during the past year. Efforts arc being made to restrict its sale. N.S.W. POLITICS. (Received 26, 10 a.m.) Sydney, August 26.
Mr. Wade stated that the Government and Mr, Willis would he given an early opportunity of justifying Thursday’s action. This is understood to moan tho legality of appointment will he tested in the Courts by defying the Speaker. 'Then, if acting on his orders, tho Sorgeant-at-Anna touches a member, they will take proceedings for technical assault.
