Mr. Newton King’s weekly butter and cheese report, from Alessi s. R. and W. Davidson, Ltd., of London and Glasgow, under date 13th April, iUil, is as follows: Ccfiiinontal Butters. In fact, they arc more than likely to show a steady advance for some little time to come. Our advices from Copenhagen indicate that tim market there is nrm, and the quotation to-day has been declared 2 kroner up.
Danish and Sweden.—Shipments to this country this week show a decrease of 519 casks. The market is still a little disorganised, but prices of strictly choicest quality remain practically unchanged at 118 s to 119 s. Siberian.—Tne total arrivals this week are about 20,009 casks. There'is a good demand for strictly choicest quality, which is tinner a'fc 102 sto 101 s. Choice goods can still be had at 965, 935, to iOOsJ with secondary at 90s and 91s. Wires from Siberia state that the drought there continues. It is reported that the reduction in the make this year will be about 40 to 50 per cent, at least. Fiench.—There is little or no change in values this week, the tendency befog quiet. There is a fairly active demand for the comparatively small quantities which are corning to this market at present. Naturally shippers' irfi France are not .very anxious to supply the London .market while prices in Franco continue so high. Irish Creamery Butter. Choicest quality continues to meet with a good demand,'-and is- readily sold at'TOSs to 109 s, exceptionally 110 s. .‘Choicest unsalte'd is also in good deinfoid at prices bulging from 110 s to Ills, exceptionally 112 s. Secondary quality, of which there is a considerable quantity on' offer? is very difficult' to' move at irregular prices, the bulk being sold at from 98s to 102 s. Colonial Butters. i Australian.—The arrivals continue to be very small, viz., the hliltiare with 4350 boxes and the Ophir with 2250 boxes. There is a good active demand for choicest quality, which is readily cleared at firm rates, viz., 104 s to 106 s. Choice goods continue in good demand at from 100 s to 102 s. Soilless is also in good request at from 106 s to 108 s.. Now Zealand.—The arrivals are now practically nil, nominal quotations 108 s to ITOs. Chosse. Canadian.—The improvement in the demand reported last week continues, end. prices are again slightly higher, choicest white and coloured 57 s to 57s Gd. New Zealand.—The quantity on the market is now comparatively small. Prices, although very firm, remain practically unchanged at 60s to 01s for choicest white and coloured.
