The New Plymouth waterside workers’ dispute was mutually considered in conference, with Mr Hally as chairman, to whom was referred all points not agreed to in conference. The parties cited were the Union Steam Ship Co., Northern Steamship Co., Blackball Coal and Shipping Co., Maoriland Co., and New Plymouth Harbour Board. The hours of labour agreed to were those ordinarily worked by waterside workers throughout the Dominion. The wages are: Handling cargo, ordinary time Is 6d per hour; overtime, handling ordinary cargo 2s 3d; coal 2s 6d; frozen produce 2s 6d. An agreement was come to regarding holidays, meal hours, engagements, and preference. The agreement applies only to the port of New Plymouth.
