SMASHED TO MATCHWOOD.

SAILORS’ NAEROY; ESCAPE. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, August 22. While three sailors were painting the Maitai under the, stern yesterday, the boat got close to the propeller, just as the sngincrcom staff, who were working on the main engines, decided to give the propeller a turn or two. The propeller was slowly turned, and the men, seeing their danger, jumped from the boat into the water. Although the propeller made only a couple of slow revolutions the boat was smashed to matchwood. The men wore rescued uninjured.
