Newton King’s Weekly Report. On the 9th instant f held a clcariujrjr sale at Awatuna East on account of ilr W. Kcliely. Although there was not a largo attendance the cows commanded keen competition and realised good prices right through the sale. Early calvers £6 10s to £ll, later' £4 to £O, heifers £0 to £9, bull £5 >ss.
At Mrs Conner’s clearing sale on Skinner Road on the 10th instant there was only a small attendance, and the cows, which were not. in hrstclass condition, did not meet with the same demand as at previous sales. Early calvers £G to £ll, later £4 to £5 10s. At Urenui on tlie 11th instant, at my Urenui yards, 1 sold Mr H. JJarnitt’s ami Mr C. Masker’s dairy herds. There was a good attendance and the cows, which were in nice condition and most of which showed good Jersey strain, commanded good prices. On account, of Mr Rarnitt early calvers brought £8 ,5s to £ls 10s, later £G to £G 15s, springing heifers £5 os to £l2 15s; on account of Mr C. Masker early calvers brought £7 to £l2 10s, later £5 to £G 10s, pod. Jer. bull 30 gns (“hr. Nicola”). On the same day, I held a clearing sale at Tutuawa on account of Messrs R. A. and 11. B. Br.ickcll when there was a good attendance,' hud prices realised were quite satisfactory considering that the-cows were mostly late and very low in condition. Early calvers brought up to £9, later £4 5s to £5 10s, very late and empty and poor conditioned £3 5s to £3 15s, bull £3 15s, heifers £6 to £6 15s, weaners 28s, yearling heifers £2 is, yearling steers 32s 6d, 1 and 6-tooth owes 12s Jld, f.m. ewes 7s 10J, iioggots 5s Del, store pigs 18s, curt mare £2O, light horses £S 15s to £l2, dray, £5 17s 6d. i On Monday, tilth instant, I sold at. Parihaka Road on account of Messrs Rutherford and Son, one of their dairy herds. There was only a fair attendance and the cows, though in somewhat low condition, realised good prices. Early calvers £G 10s to £ll ss, later £4 10s to £G, bull £5 ss; sundries sold at usual rates.

Redhead, when there was a very large attendance of buyers and the cattle, which were, good in condition, and mostly ishorthorn strain, sold well. Bidding throughout the sale was exceptionally .brisk, especially for the implements. Prices realised were: Pedigree hull,,;“Silver Pride,” 21-gna; (grade shorthorn lyull, £!) 9s; yearling Jersey hull, vC3 os; dairy cowq ini milk and springing, £8 os to £l3 10Sj later £0 os tqi£7 15s, empty £3 7s Gd to £1 14s; ; a nice line of 18 mouths heifers realised £3 8s; waggon, £35; drill, £25; other implements at satisfactory prices. At my usual'" fortnightly sale at Rahotu on Tuesday,, there was a fair yarding; mostly of young stock, which met with a very satisfactory market. Mixed yearlings, 2Gs' : to 31s Gd; do. good quality, £2 6s to £2 11s Gd; yearling steers, 30s to 42s 6cl; yearling heifers £2 Os Gd to £2 9s; store cows, £2 10s to £3 7s; forward, £3 IGs to £4 14s Gel. The sale of Mr H. Purdie’s herd at Waitara Road on Wednesday attracted a very large attendance. The cows, which included a number of good grade Jerseys were a nice lot, but a fair number were aged. The factory returns for last two seasons had averaged over £l2 10s per cow, and tills fact added to Mr Purdie’s reputation of having heavily culled, was no doubt responsible for the eagerness of buyers. Bidding from start to finish was very keen and prices realised were a record for so large a dairy of grade stock. The cows averaged £ll ss, and the heifers (calved and close to profit) £lO 7s. Prices realised were. Grade dairy cows in milk and springing £ll to £l9 10s; Lite cal vers £6 10s to £8 10s, heifers in milk arid springing £6 15s to £ls 10s, in calf heifers £4 10s to £ll 10s, empty cows £3 ss, calves 10a to 225, yearling heifers £2 11s to £5 40s, pcd. bid! Lord Parkdale Bgns. On account Mr J. Purdio dairy cows brought £5 10s to £lO los. On account Mr P.H. E. Surrey, yearling bulls Mangaoaia 9giis, Major 74gns, Pukeraniora logas. On account Mr L. Jennings pcd. bull Tahatai 17gns. YQiing, Hcbbs and Co.’s Report. WEEKLY STOCK SALE. Young, Hobbs and Co. report:— At Strathmore on Monday 14th inst we field our monthly sale. Wo had a small yarding, and prices were on a pir with ruling rates. We quote:— Store cows £2 10s to £3 ss, empty heifers £2 17s to £3 ss. At Stratford on Tuesday, loth, we bad a full yarding. Prices for store cows and young cattle made, a still further advance on recent values. Store cows made £3 to £3 10s, inferior do. £2 10s to £2 1 sk, fresh conditioned I caws £3 15s> to £4 2n Gd, 18 months to 2 year heifers £3 ,18s, yearling, coloured heifers £3, wenners to.yearling steers 375, springing heifers £8 10k, springing cows, £5 15s to £7 10s. On'Thursday,* 17th inst., we held a clearing sale on behalf of Mr J. Jonr.on, of Radnor Road. The cows were a good lot and sold readily. Some were backward, which pulled down the average. Host cows made £0 7s Gd io £ll 15s, backward £4 12s Gd to £0 ss. Mattl tews and Bennett reports that there was. a fair entry of cattle in their f 'glewond yards on Wednesday last, prices being fair. Weanors 25s to 30s, yearlings £2 to £2 4s Od, springers £0 to £7 7s Gd, dairy cows £5 7s Gd to £6 10s, store cows £3 4s to £4 ss, fat wethers 14s, hoggets 3s 7d.
