Second Edition FIRES.

(Per Press Association.) Palmerston North, August 19. The Tiratu Sawmilling Co.’s planing Hull was totally destroyed by fire at,,'4.45 a.m. The building was ablaze from end to end when the alarm was given, but the brigade was successful in saving the now suction gas plant installed yesterday at a cost of £llOO. The manager and staff were on the premises till 11 o’clock last night, .watching a trial run of the new plant, and when they left everything was I apparently safe. There is no idea of the origin of the fire. The stock and machinery were insured for £SOO in the London and Lancashire, £SOO in the Queensland, and the building for £l5O in the United. The estimate of the loss is not yet ascertainable.
