DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, August 19. In the Supreme Court a decree nisi was granted in the case of Frederick Richard Austice against. Flora Matilda Austice, married in Wellington in 1905. Petitioner stated that when living in Geraldine he sent his wife to a nursing home at ftmaru to bo confined; instead she went to Dunedin. Later he met her. in Dunedin and asked her why she had cleared out, and who was she living with. She replied: ‘‘Mick Head, in MacLaggan Street.” Ho denied that ho had tcC his wife. Judge Edwards said petitioner was no doubt the caus£ of his - wife leaving him, but he would give her the benefit to get rid of him'and : grant a* decree nisi but without costs.

Republican applause greeted the announcement of Lite Presidential veto of the Wool Bill when read in the House of •Representatives. Mr Underwood, Democratic loader, announced that he would call the Bill up immediately and endeavour to pass over the veto. Mr 1 nderwood is confident that he will bo able to obtain the necessary majority. Tire Republicans supporting President Taft believe the Insurgents will not try to upset the veto.
