DELICIOUS CAKES.
Raisin Cake.—Cieam together one iiid a half tablespoons lard or butter old three tablespoons of sugar. Then aid one egg. one cun sweet- milk, one limiter teaspoon salt, two cups flour, nice teaspoons baking powder, one ialf cup small raisins, put in goodaxed pan, pour melted butter over jop, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon ■ml bake in a moderate oven, Ginger Cake. —Sift three-quarters if a pound of Hour into a basin ; add me cupful of chopped walnuts, one ■alf teaspoon of salt, one half teaponnfnl of soda, one tablcspoouful of ;round ginger, one teaspoonful of cinnamon, and a little grated nutmeg. \lelt together in a. saucepan one cupel of molasses, four tablespoon fills if butter, one half cupful of milk. Let 00l and add the dry ingredients with ' -.vo well-beaten eggs. Mix- well, then jour into a buttered and floured cake ■ •in; bake in a- moderate oven threequarters of an hour.
