FORESTRY.

The Taranaki district officers, with seventy Foresters from various Courts of the district, including a brake-load of twelve brethren and six sisters from Court Inglewood Forest, met in the Foresters’ Hall, Stratford, on Tuesday evening, 15th August, for the purpose of opening a new Female Court, No. 8273, Ancient Order of Foresters. District Chief Ranger, Bro. Claud Weston, occupied the chair. The opening ceremony being performed, twenty sisters and one honorary member were duly initiated members of the Court. . Sister 0. M. Brayshaw was elected, and duly installed first Chief Ranger of the Court, the minor chairs being filled by the following members:— S.C.R., Sister May Porter y treasurer, Sister G. Bennett; secretary, Sister Gwen Burgess; S.W., Sister E. Mercer; J.W., Sister A. Watkins; 5.8., Sister Kivell; J. 8., Sister M. Burkett.

Bro. B. V. Kivell, D. 8.; Bro. R. H. Kivcll, P.D.C.R.; and Bro. Goo. Burgess, P.D.C.R., were elected trustees o; tl.a Court. Dr. Steven was appointed Conit Surgeon. On behalf of Court Stratford, No. 7302, Sister 0. M. Brayshaw, C.R.., made a presentation, of a P.C.R. jewel to Bro. B. V. Kivell for services rendered as late secretary of Court Stratford. Bro. Kivell suitably responded. Bio. Claud Weston, D.C.R., offered a present to the Sister bringing in most members during the next six months.

A hearty vote of thanks was given to the district officers and visiting sisters and brothers for their visit to Stratford that evening. •The district officers all suitably responded,..and presented the new Court with regalia and books for the opening, free of cost. It was resolved that the Court meet fortnightly on Tuesdays, and that a voce of thanks be given to Court Stratford for free use of Lodge room, and also for the manner in which the members had been entertained that evening. One candidate was proposed for membership. The Foresters’ ‘“fire” brought to a doss the best Court meeting ever held in Stratford..
