ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER

(Per Press Association ) Auckland, August 14. At tho Police Court John Owen, alias Doro, alias Rowe, alias Lucy, was charged that on April 21st, 1906, at Montoa, Foxton, lie attempted io murder Augustus Percy Easton. It is alleged that live years ago Owen tried to murder 'Easton, firstly by firing at him with a gun, and later hitting him on the head with an axe. Owen disappeared, leaving no trace but finger-prints. A few weeks back Rowe was arrested for disorderly conduct in Auckland and sentenced to three months’ 'imprisonment. His finger-prints, on being sent to the Department, were discovered to be identical with tlie pyints of the missing man Owen*. Accused was remanded for one week when lie will be further remanded to stand his trial at Foxton.
