TARANAKI RUGBY UNION. A meeting of the Taranaki Rugby Union was held at Stratford on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs. Buchanan (in the chair), McLeod, Malone, O’Dea, Rev. Scott, Burke, and Skoglund (secretary). Mr. McLeod was appointed manager for the southern tour of the representative team. Ruru Sam (Okaiawa) was disqualified for five years for foul play. Mr. Burke asked if it was true as stated by some of the Waimate players that the Stratford Thirds in their recent cup finals with Waimate had had their expenses paid off by the Union.—The secretary said it was not true.

Mr. O’Dea asked by whose authority the play-off, Okaiawa v. Clifton, had been arranged for Thursday, 17th iust., at Stratford. The Chairman explained that it was decided at last meeting (at which two southern members, through notices going astray, had not been present). The secretary said the Union wanted funds for the southern tour, and they could bo sure of a good gate at Stratford.

Mr. O’Dea said they could be sure of a good gate at Hawera, also, but he recognised that it was too late now to alter the arrangements. He, however, pointed out that if the match were played on ' a northern ground and on a day to suit the northern team, a southern referee should be appointed.—This was agreed to. The matter of having fixed days for the Union meetings was supported by the Rev. Scott, and the idea found favour with members. The season, however, is practically over, and it was resolved to defer discussion till next year.

SENIOR PLAY-OFF. The following team has been selected to represent Clifton in the play-off with Okaiawa at Stratford next Thursday:—S. George, V. Tate, C. Tato, A. Goodwin, I S. Eggleston, J. Coleman, J. Crowley, N. Kyle, P. Jones, A. Lash,. R. Thomas, H. G. Hicks, S. Lovoridge, M. Cain, T. Fairley.
