The third mntca of the ivoith Island Country Team’s tour was played on Saturday' afternoon, wlien tJioy met and vanquished Wanganui by id to 0. duo visitors were in good condition, and saw the game out Hotter tiian the homo team. The teams were very evenly matched as regards play, but the North islanders and the advantage in weight. The score does not represent the difference between tiro contestants. The weather was line and the ground was good, and there was a largo attendance. The game was marred by a regrettable incident. Just before the laird quarter ended, Percival followed up a kick to A civ erode, at full, and the latter, in fending Pcrciyal with his elbow, caught him on the point of the jaw, laying him out. A large section of tr.o crowd hooted, roaring that McKenzie bo put off, and calling him a coward. mo match all through was hard and strenuous, and several of tire visitors were temporarily injured. The North Islanders started with a rush, and before the first quarter ended Desmond scored from a dribbling rush. McKenzie converted. The visitors tried many passing bouts, which lacked finish; otherwise the score would have been increased. Another forward rush in the third quarter by Bailey and Smith was successful, the former scoring. McKenzie again added points. With two minutes to go, Downing dived over from the lino-cut. McKenzie, who was still being hotted by a portion of the croud, missed with tnc kick, and the game ended— North Island 13, Wanganui nil. As the visiting team wore leaving the ground a demonstration was made by a small crowd.
