SOLOMON ISLANDS.
PARTICULARS OF A MURDER. (Received 7, 9.5 a.m.) Sydney, August 7. Advices received from the Resident Commissioner of the Solomons indicate that Daniels’ murder was probably the outcome of interference with the course of native justice. Daniels placed a native teacher in charge of a school, and the teacher was discovered to lie guilty of impropriety with the chief’s daughter. Daniels, seeking to have the teacher and the girl removed from the chief’s anger, smuggled them to the headquarters of the mission. The enraged father sent word to the chief of the district where they took refuge, and Daniels’ murder followed.
