DELICIOUS CAKES.
Raisin Cake.—Cicam together one and a half tablespoons lard or butter and three tablespoons of, sugar. Then add one egg, one cup sweet milk, one quarter teaspoon salt, two cups flour, chice teaspoons baking powder, one naif cup small raisins, put in goodsized pan, pour melted butter over top, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and bake in a moderate oven. Ginger Cake.—Sift three-quarters of a pound of flour into a basin; add one cupful of chopped walnuts, one half teaspoon of salt, one half teaspoonful of soda, one tablespoonful of ground ginger, one teaspoonful of cinnamon, "’and a little grated nutmeg. Molt together in a saucepan one cupful of molasses, lour tablespooiuuls of butter, one half cupful of milk. Let vool and add the dry ingredients with two well-beaten eggs. Mix well, tnen pour into a buttered and floured cake tin; bake in a moderate oven threequarters of an hour. And serve Dragon'Brand Tea, the best tea that was over put into a teapot in Now Zealand. It is a tea of unusual excellence, pleasing to the palate, and has an aroma,- all its own. It is sold at 2s 8d per lb, and almost all storekeepers in the district have it in stock.
