THE LIGHTING QUESTION.

PETITION TO THE MAYOR.. ' The following is a copy of a petition presented today to the Mayor, Mr. J. Masters. To the Mayor, Stratford. , Sir, —We/ the undersigned Borough Councillors, request you to immediately call a meeting of the Borough Council to decide tne question of the publication, or not, of all resolutions come to by tho Council sitting in committee on Monday, July 7th, and Tuesday, July 25th, which dealt with the matter of the purchase of tlie Stratford Electrical Supply Company’s undertaking. Our reasons for requesting you to take this step are That in our opinion, there is m thing in the findings of the committee and in the report of the sub-commit-tee which can in any way, prejudice tho position of the Borough or tho Stratford Electrical Supply Company in any arbitration on the question, or in any way influence the valuators in arriving at their conclusions. Euithcr, we are strongly of opinion that m such an important matter, all possible information should be at the disposal of the ratepayers through the i. * dium of the press at tho earliest opportunity. . Yours faithfully, (Signed) G. SANGSTER, R. McK. MORISON, JOHN D. HEALY, T. L. PAGET. Stratford, August 2nd, 1911.
