ORNAMENTAL ARCHES.

AN OBJECTION WITHDRAWN. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, August 1. The Department of Railways has withdrawn its objection to the erection of ornamental arches, which were included in the original design for the new post office for Auckland. The Dion. J. A. Millar yesterday stated that it had been decided to withdraw the objection, though the Department considered the arches would enormously hamper traffic between the station and Queen Street. The arches will be 47 feet high, with openings 20 feet in width.
