ADRIFT ON A LAKE.
A NEAR CALL. (For Press Association.) 1 Wairoa, July 31. News was received this morning that two men named Higgins and Baker, who attempted to cross Lake Waikaremoana on a raft last week, wore discovered by Maoris in a feeble condition. They were taken ashore to the pa and cared for, and hut for the timely discovery must have died, the weather being bitterly cold on the lake. , *
