INDUSTRIAL UNREST.
(Received 31, 9 a.m.) London, July 30. Tho terms of settlement in connection with the London dockers’ strike will mean an increase of wages of £150,000 annually. Tho strike on the north-east coast has ended. The British Miners’ Federation has decided to ask the owners to consider the payment of a district minimum wage for-working in abnormal places, otherwise they will take an immediate ballot to see whether they will strike or not. (Received 31, 9a.m.) Amsterdam, July 30. The dockers’ strike has ended, and wages will be increased from October Ist. (Received 31st, 9.15 a.m.) Brisbane, July 31. Another riot has occurred at Childers. The police was arresting a striker, and the moo charge I The police fired their revolvers in tho air and temporarily subdued the crowd, but there was a fresh outbreak at tho lock-up. Stones were thrown, and a call to rescue the prisoner made. Subsequently the disturbance subsided. (Received 31, 10.5 a.m.) Hobart, July 31. The Carters’ and Drivers’ Union has struck for higher pay. Tho members of the Trades and Labour Council have decided not to handle goods carted by non-unionists.
