THE SOUTH POLE.
DR. MAWSON’S EXPEDITION. London, July 28. Dr. Mawson’s expedition ship Aurora sailed at midnight. She calls at Sheerness to adjust, her compass, and coals at Cardiff. Tho dogs were safely shipped. Lieutenant Mainis, assistant surveyor, and Dr. Martz, the geologist, are the only members sailing in the Aurora. Tho officers and crew number 25. Lieutenants Walkin and Bickerton sail for China with an aeroplane, which has been severely tested at Brooklands. Tho tests were highly satisfactory.
