THE ENGLISH PIERROTS. TO-NIGHT. This evening the English Pierrots who have been such a popular feature of the Wellington Exhibition make their only appearance in Stratford. It is announced that no return visit is possible owing to the company having to return to ?Jelbourne for their summer season at St. Kilda, and those who appreciate a wholesome, refined and humorous musical entertainment cannot do better than take this opportunity of w ram wag the Pierrots’ performance. Touching the personnel of the company, Mr Maynard Dakin may well be said to be the jester of the company, his admirable fooling and clever songs causing him to . leap .-into •• instantaneous favour with those “in front.’’ Miss Elsa Langley wins all hearts with her naturalness and her winsomenecs of manner, her catchy songs and attractive personality being a feature of the entertainment. Mr Kingsley Chapman lias a tenor vo.c. that was much talked of timing the recent season in Wellington; whilst Mr Leslie Austin lias a baritone of good range and even quality. Miss Phyliss Phillipson is a dainty little lady who possesses a sweet soprano voice which she uses to much advantage; whilst Mi W. P. Turner is always highly successful with his humorous songs, and is invaluable in Hie concerted uuui'.ei-. Skating will finish for the week at His Majesty’s Theatre to-night, and to-morrow night a new programme of pictures will be submitted. It has been found impossible to present the star dramatic film “A Royal Divorce” this week, but it will. bo shown rmxt week. This week’s programme includes the usual number of star dramatic pictures, the titles of which suggest interesting and exciting stories The scenic films comprise “A Visit to the Dome of Milan Cathedral:’' some Black Sea scenery, and “A Trip in a Balloon.” A further section of Hie Warwick Chronicle will bo shown, including the race for this year’s English Derby. The comic section is well ujd to standard. _ . The principal drama this week is “A Show Girl’s Stratagem.” A young husband, taken up with play-writing, pays very little attention to his wife, who falls in love with a great society artist, but is saved dishonour by a visiting show-girl, a cousin of her husband’s.’ The show-girl bears the brunt of the situation, and is ordered to leave the house. Before leaving she tells the lady of the house: “You belong to Society—l to the Stage.” Then she leaves the house .in lor the suspicion of the wife. On Saturday, at 2.30 p.m., the management are giving a free matinee for children under twelve accompanied by . parents. WEST’S PICTURES. , “West’s Pictures” are to visit Stratford again on Thursday next, July 27th. By special request, in addition to a big programme of now films, “Glimpses of New Zealand” is to be presented. This is a. particularly fhio film, and deservedly very popular. CORONATION SKATING RINK. Both the afternoon and evening sessions at this rink continue ' ory popular, and in view of the children’s fancy dross skating carnival to be hold shortly, a large number of children are learning this delightful exorcise, The attractions for to-morrow evening include potato race for ladies andgentlemen, for which prizes nil! bo given, and a polo match, ladies v. gentlemen, which is very interesting.
