WHEN PARLIAMENT MEETS. (Per Press Association ) Wellington, July 25. The “Times” says it is expected the Governor’s Speech will lie free from innovations, and no measures of ex-* ceptional importance will be tackled. Among the measures to be introduced, besides such as the Town Planning Bill, will be one for the control of the storage of oil in hulk, amendments to the Hospital and Charitable Aids Act. A surplus of £954,172 will be announced, enabling £BOO,OOO to be transferred to the Public Works Fund, £50,000 will be devoted to increasing the salaries and wages of railway men, and a still larger sum in concessions to the users of lines, especially sec-ond-class passengers. This will come from the large railway surplus. The cost: of the new defence scheme will lie one of the subjects discussed, also designs for tiic new Parliament House, the progress of the hydro-electric power scheme, and the report on the Cook Islands administration. The “Times” adds that the general election may he expected in November.
