M:-wton King's Weakly Report.
On Friday, July 14, i held a clearing sale at my I’rcmii yards on account of Messrs. Skinner and Son, when there was a good attendance cf buyers. The cattle, which were a nice lot, realised good prices. Early calvors made £6 10s to £l3, later £4 to £6, springing heifers £5 os to £7 15s, incalf heifers £3 os to £4 los, yearling heifers 30s to 365, do. extra choice £2 18s, pedigree Jersey hull Tohunga 20 guineas, gelding £2O, draught mare £3l ss, fillies £lO 5s to £l4 10s, cultivator £ll, s.f. plough £4 7s Gd, crusher £4 2s Gd. Dairy cows sold at the same sale on account of Mr. W. Lovell realised £7 os. On the same day I sold at the Mountain Road, Stratford, on account of Mr. George Perrett, early calvors at £7 to £l6 10s, later £4 10s to £6 10s, springing heifers £5 los, empty cows £3 4s.to £4, bid! £5, mixed yearlings 34s 6d, draught mare £22, light mare £l3 10s, dray £l3 15s, sows £5 to £7 15s.
On Monday, 17th inst., at Mr. W. P. Watson’s clearing sale at Tataraimaka there was only a fair attendance of buyers, though the stock realised fair prices. Early calvevs made up bo £l3, later £4 15s to £5 los, empty and store cows £2 los to £4, bull £3 ; sundries sold at usual rates.
On Tuesday, 18th inst., I held a clearing sale at Orn.ata on account of Mr. J. Monin, when there was a fair attendance. The vendor had only a few cows to offer, but the sundries sold well. Dairy cows made £5 10s to £8 los, mixed yearlings 29s 6d, hoggets 7s 3d, ewes Ss 2d, bacon pig 335. Cows offered on account of other vendors sold as follows:—On account of Mr. F. Green, £6 os to £8 los'; on account of Mr. O. Johns, 1 £5 10s to £9 ss, store cows £2 5s to £3 15s; on account of Mr. A. Pearson, £6 15s to £8 10s. At Raliotn on the same day there was a good yarding, and the stocks, especially the young cattle, sold well. Weaner heifers made 355, yearling do. £2 4s to £2 10s, 2 to 2k year heifers £3 3s Gd to £3 ISs, yearling steers £2 4s to £2 10s, 2V year steers £3 3s, incalf heifers £5, springing heifers £6 ss, store cows £2 9s to £3 9s, forward cows £3 14s to £4 2s 6d, springing cows £5 2s to £6 os, fat cows £5, bulls 36s 6d to £3 los.
At Stony River on Wednesday, 19tii inst., I sold on account of Mr. W. I). Linn, a draft of young stock and dairy cows. There was a good attendance, and competition, especially for the springing heifers, was keen. Dairy cows, close up. made £7 to £lO 10s, later £5 5s to £6 10s, springing heifers (Holstein) £7 10s to £9, do. Ayrshire £7 to £8 15s, do. Jersey £7 10s, do. Shorthorn £6 2s Gel to £7 10s. crmle Holstein bulls £4 7s 6d to £5 10s. At Waiwakaiho on the 20th inst. there was a fair yarding. Mixed woanors made 20s to 32s Gel, yearling heifers (Jersey strain) £2 15s, 2-year heifers £3, springing heifers £4 15s to £6 2s Gd, stole cows £2 to £3 3s, forward cows £3 10s to £4 4s, springing cows £4 5s to £8 17s Gd, fat cows £4 12s Gd to £4 17s Gd, 2 year steers £3 Is, bulls £2 los to £5 10s, ewes os ,4d to 6s, la gibs 4s Gd. Young, Hobbs and Go. At Eltham on Wednesday, 12th inst., we field our usual fortnightly sale, 'liio yarding was nob up to expectation, bub everything sola at satisfactory prices. \Vo quote : —Fresh and forward cows £3 14s to £4 IGs, store do. £o to £3 7s Gd, 18 montn heifers £3 to £3 14s, dairy cows up to £7 10s, calves and weaners IGs Gd to 30s Gd.
At Strathmore on Monday, 17th, we held our monthly sale, at winch everything was cleared at satisfactory prices. Dairy cows made £5 10s to £8 rOs, calves 211 s 6d, horse £6 os. We also offered a large number of fruit trees, which were disposed,of at satisfactory prices. At otratford cn Tuesday, ISt'h, we held our fortnightly sale. All the advertised cattle came forward, and wo succeeded in placing most of the stock yarded at the hammer or immediately afterwards. Store cows made £2 14s to £3 12s 6d, dairy cows £4 15s to £5 2s 6d, yearling steers £2 2s Gd, yearling coloured heifers £2 9s, yearling Holstein -heifers £2 17s (Id, mixed woaneis 22s to 33s Gd, backward heifers £4 ss. Matthews and Bennett’s Report. Messrs. Matthews and Bennett report that there was a fair entry of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last, and the lots were sold as follows: —Calves 30s to 395, empty heifers £3 Bs, store cows £2 10s to £3 3s, springers £6 to £B, bulls £3 Is to £4 10s, ewes Gs. At Mr. H. Cowley’s sale there was a large attendance of buyers, and everything sold well. The cows made from £5 15s to £l7 10s ,bulls £4 10s to £5 2s Gd, horses £ll to £27. Furniture sold well. LONDON WOOL SALES. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received the following cablegram from its London house, under date 19th inst.; — As compared with last sales’ closing rates prices are higher by about par to 5 per cent, for greasy and scoured merino, super and fine greasy crossbred ; about the same for coarse greasy crossbred; lower by about par to 5 per cent, for merino inferior, medium greasy crossbred, and faulty wool; lower by about sto 71 per cent, for scoured crossbred and slipe medium crossbred; lower by 5 per cent, for slipe fine and coarse crossbred. There is a small demand for American.
