TOP REACHED IN WINTER. (Per Press Association.) Hawera, July 21. A party of Hawera I'emTents— Meseis. r. O’Dea, it. Browne, E. P. Cox, and B. Joyce—left town on Saturday for Dawson Falls, with the intention of making an ascent of Mount I'jgmont. A start was made from the Mountain House at 8.30 a.m., in pouring rain, but when the ;mity got through the clouds at an elevation of 5000 feet, they found the summit bathed in sunshine. The crater was reached at 2 p.m. This is believed to he the first occasion that Mount Egmont has been climbed in w;c. cr.
